Decade

 A decade has passed.

I'm in my 10th year of teaching 4th grade in the same school, same classroom and, the same set of standards. But change is everywhere. Every year my scope and sequence must adapt to meet the diverse needs of each group. A lot has changed over the years. In my personal life, I have been deeply occupied with raising my three children, currently ages 16, 10, and 6. I have also undergone a kidney transplant, and I received the greatest gift of my sister's kidney.

The world has changed too.

Blogging felt like a thing of the past. Once the internet was new and exciting. Reaching out to unknown people with lightning speed was exhilarating. Everything became fast, furious necessary, and unnecessary.  Then COVID forcefully shifted learning and education to a digital platform.

Three years post-Covid, students and educators are suffering the consequences.

I am suddenly compelled to revive the "old ways" of this blog as a place to quietly reflect. A way to gently reach those soft, curious readers who may find their way back to reflection without flashy pictures, reels, videos, and short attention spans.
